글렌 로널드는 자신을 "chaos whisperer,"

(혼돈을 속삭이는 사람)이라 부른다. 즉 백지 위에 혼돈을 먼저 끌어드린 다음 질서 (코스모스)를 뽑아냅니다.

 

무슨 소리냐면, 모든 작품은 일단 종이위로 튀는 잉크 방울처럼 무의식적인 드로잉으로 시작하고, 기괘한 스템프 자국과 같은 그런 '온전한 혼돈' (보나 파이드 케이어스) 에서 출발하여 '로르샤흐 테스트' 처럼 해석하고,이어서 의미있는 이미지를 추출해내는 과정과도 같습니다.

 

의미있는 하나의 이미지에 도달하려면 50여가지의 인지적 실험을 거치는 과정을 밟기도 한다고... 특히 '간디'를 확대해서 관찰하듯 보면 얼추 공감대가 보이는 듯?

[The Graphite Chaos of Glen Ronald]

 

Canadian artist, ex-micribiology student, and former teacher Glen Ronald calls himself a "chaos whisperer," for the way he "creates a field of chaos and pulls the cosmos (or order) out of it," according to his bio. What that means is, he starts every illustration off with some bona fide chaos (e.g. ink splotches, subconscious drawing, erratic stamping), then reads it like a Rorschach Test, pulling meaningful images from the ether. According to an interview with Marker Magazine, he sometimes goes through up to 50 experiments before finding one he considers meaningful. Check out the ones that made the cut below.
